Lyceum Theatre

The Lyceum Theatre at 3545 Fulton Road, at West 41st Street, opened on May 25, 1920, the 1,750 seat theatre was designed by William Koehl and was managed by A. E. Ptak for a number of years. I saw my first pictures in this house in 1961, and patronized it for a number of years. The Merchant's Matinees between Thanksgiving and Christmas were always a treat. The house closed in the late 1960's, and later re-opened in 1971 for Spanish pictures, and later as an adult theatre before closing permanently in the early 1980's. The theatre was razed for a branch of the public library.
